Buckeyes get help inside with transfer Lee

COLUMBUS

Ohio State has confirmed that Temple big man Anthony Lee is transferring to play for the Buckeyes. The 6-foot-9 Lee, set to graduate from Temple in May, would be eligible next year for one season. Lee averaged 13.6 points and 8.6 rebounds for the Owls last year.

He adds an inside presence for the Buckeyes (25-10), who were often overmatched in the paint with 6-11 junior Amir Williams and 6-8 Trey McDonald combining for 9.8 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. The Buckeyes have scholarships to give after the graduation of Aaron Craft and Lenzelle Smith Jr., and with leading scorer and rebounder LaQuinton Ross and sub Amedeo Della Valle leaving the program to pursue pro careers.

Central Missouri beats West Libery in DII final

EVANSVILLE, Ind.

Daylen Robinson scored 16 of his 21 points in the second half to help Central Missouri win the NCAA Division II championship, 84-77 over West Liberty on Saturday. Dillon Deck added 16 points and 10 rebounds for Central Missouri (30-5), including two key baskets in the final 4 minutes.

Shawn Dyer led West Liberty (31-4) with 19 points, and Cedric Harris had 18 — 14 in the first half.

Robinson, a senior guard selected the tournament MVP, hit a 3-pointer with 8:18 left to tie it at 65, then made it 68-65 with another 3-pointer 90 seconds later.

YSU track and field competes at N.C. State

Sophomore Connor Neu and senior Bobby Grace finished fourth (60.70 meters) and seventh (56.20 meters), respectively, in the hammer throw Saturday at North Carolina State’s Raleigh Relays. Sophomore Nina Grambling placed seventh with her best time of the outdoor season in the 100-meter dash, 11.86 seconds.

YSU women dominate singles, top Oakland

The Youngstown State women’s tennis team picked up four singles wins to knock off Oakland on Saturday at the Bloomfield Tennis and Fitness Center. The 4-3 win improves the Penguins to 2-0 in the Horizon League and 7-9 overall.

YSU got wins from No.1 Margarita Sadovnikova, 6-1, 6-1; No.2 Marta Burak, 6-1, 6-3; No.3 Dominika Lackova, 6-0, 6-0; and No. 4 Annina Brendel, 6-4, 6-2.

Dunlap, O’Leary place for Kent track squad

LOUISVILLE, Ky.

McDonald graduate Miles Dunlap finished second in the 400-meter hurdles Saturday at the Lenny Lyles/Clark Wood Invitational at the University of Louisville. Dunlap also combined with South Range graduate Andrew O’Leary, Matthew Tobin and Laron Brown to finish third in the 4x400 relay. O’Leary also was fifth in the 400-meter dash.

Umpire Association to hold meeting, social
