Ursuline Preschool and Kindergarten celebrated the school’s 50th anniversary in high style with a Royal Ball for students and parents March 21.

Guests of the UPSK 50th Anniversary Royal Ball were greeted with regal decorations at the door with the entrance to the Ursuline Center transformed into a castle courtyard, complete with wishing well and a Frozen Forest with snow, and the auditorium was transformed into a royal ballroom, titled Court of Charlotte. The evening included food, a disc jockey playing music, a royal portrait photo booth, arts and crafts and a prince and princess handing out favors to the children.

Members of Alpha Si Omega, the theaters honors fraternity at Youngstown State University, dressed as princesses and mingled amongst the children and their parents talking to them and posing for photos.

A ‘dungeon’ was also created at the end of a hallway with dragon noises coming from behind the doors.

Nicole Billak, Meshelle Navarro and Kris Oddis chaired the event, with help from Soriann Maloney and Lluvia Krukowski with numerous hours of making decorations and setting up for the ball.

Several mothers of students also donated baked good for the sweets table, which offered several royal treats such as cake pops and cookies, and many were on hand to help at the event.

“This is a big event. The women have worked so hard to make this event over the top for the children. It is for the community to help us celebrate 50 years,” said Sister Charlotte Italiano, Ursuline Preschool and Kindergarten principal.

The school had several local business sponsors who donated items for the Royal Ball, including Olfield Graphics, Home Carpet, Innovation Exhibits, Cormell Carpet, Something New, Baby and Me Designs, AngeNetta’s Caf and Catering, Delliquadri Landscaping, Guerrieri Construction, Marketing Activation Group, Wayside Lawn Structure, B&F Aerial Entertainment, Giant Eagle Canfield, Phoenix Fire Grill and Bar, Star Supply, Good Life Stamping, Balloon Doctor and Chick-Fil-A. “We could not have pulled this event off without the generosity of our parents at UPSK. Between helping make desserts to helping set up, they were incredible,” said Billak.
