Aerial yoga comes to Youngstown

Eos Whole Fitness and Bellidance, Youngstown’s Premier Belly Dance and Yoga Studio, has announced another expansion to its offerings with the addition of Aerial Yo, Youngstown’s first aerial yoga studio.

Aerial Yoga is a safe form of inversion therapy which utilizes a silk hammock suspended from the ceiling, transforming the hammock in to a useful tool to improve flexibility, joint mobility, strength and body alignment.

“Like other forms of Yoga, Aerial Yoga helps to fight fatigue, anxiety and depression,” said Jennifer Neal, owner of Eos Whole Fitness. “Just as there is myriad physical and emotional benefits to a traditional yoga practice, Aerial Yoga in a safe environment can assist in the release of deep-seated fears and can bring heightened mental and emotional clarity in addition to physical alignment. All of these benefits are often reportedly amplified with an Aerial practice.”

“Aerial Yoga is for just about anyone and is very safe,” Neal said. “The hammocks, themselves, can support 2,000 dynamic pounds, and the hardware exponentially more. No prior yoga experience is required. The most important factors here are an open mind and moving at one’s own pace with conscious breathing. And of course taking direction from the instructor.”

Neal was professionally trained by the founder of Aerial Yoga, Jayne Bernasconi, 500RYT, in the Aerial Yoga, BT methodology.

Eos Whole Fitness and Bellidance, LLC is located inside the Calvin Center for the Arts at 755 Mahoning Avenue in Youngstown. Eos Whole Fitness and Bellidance, which has been in business since 2006, is one of the area’s most established and well respected dance and yoga studios.

Jennifer Neal, a Reiki II Practitioner and AFAA Certified Yoga and Pilates Instructor, has studied with some of the country’s most prolific dancers and yogis, including Yogicharya Shri Amritji (Gurudev) and Rachel Brice. In addition to traditional and contemporary belly dance technique, her dance vocabulary includes ballet, jazz and modern.
