Trial ordered for suspect in Pa. headphones slaying

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — A suspect has been ordered to stand trial in the death of a man who was killed for his expensive headphones on a Philadelphia street.

A judge today ruled that there was enough evidence for 20-year-old Arkel Garcia to proceed to trial on murder, robbery and related charges.

Christian Massey died on Nov. 30 after police say a gunman demanded his new Beats by Dr. Dre headphones, which cost at least $200.

Massey refused and was shot several times. Officers who found the 21-year-old victim say he told them what happened before dying at a hospital.

Massey graduated last summer from Marple Newtown High School. The special education student had been a beloved member of several sports teams.

Garcia’s attorney said his client maintains his innocence.
