Suspect dies after being shot by Ohio deputies

MIDDLEBURG HEIGHTS, Ohio (AP) — Authorities say a man died after being shot by sheriff’s deputies who went to serve a warrant in suburban Cleveland.

The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation said it happened Tuesday afternoon when deputies from the Cuyahoga County sheriff’s office went to serve a warrant to a man in Middleburg Heights.

The agency’s spokeswoman, Jill Del Greco, said it is believed that two deputies fired their weapons. She said agents were still questioning witnesses today to determine what happened.

The man was identified by the county medical examiner as 65-year-old Israel Rondon. He was wanted for an alleged probation violation for assault on a police officer and carrying a concealed weapon.
