A summary of recent criminal activity in Hubbard, Liberty and Girard:

HUBBARD

March 21

Arrest: Police picked up 25-year-old Christopher M. Biggs at his Washington Avenue residence. The Hubbard man was wanted on a warrant.

Theft: A Fifth Avenue man reported an $800 iPad device stolen from his home.

Assault: An official with Hubbard High School, 350 Hall Ave., told officers that a 14-year-old student was punched in the face and pushed into a wall.

March 22

Identity fraud: A School Street man learned that someone without permission opened two credit-card accounts in his name.

Harassment: A Stoney Brook Drive woman said her boyfriend has made and sent unwanted calls and text messages to her and her son.

March 24

Harassment: A Jacobs Road woman said her brother had sent her two unwanted text messages.

LIBERTY

March 18

Drug paraphernalia: Police charged 25-year-old Sherman C. Moore of Idlewood Avenue, Youngstown, with having a suspected marijuana pipe after they stopped him near an Interstate 80 off-ramp.

March 19

Arrest: Joseph L. Lightfoot, 22, of Tyrell Avenue, Youngstown, was taken into custody at the Mahoning County jail on an outstanding Girard Municipal Court warrant.

Arrest: Authorities at the Mahoning County jail arrested 31-year-old Marcus W. Gayles of Norwood Avenue, Youngstown. He was wanted on a charge of failure to appear in court.

Arrest: Jeffrey A. Whitney, 51, was arrested at the Mahoning County jail. Whitney, of Roslyn Street, Youngstown, was accused of failing to appear in court.

March 20

Aggravated assault: A Masury man changing a tire in the 1300 block of Shannon Road reported another man got out of a vehicle, knocked the accuser to the ground and punched him repeatedly, causing him to lose consciousness.

Misuse of a credit card: A Catherine Street woman found numerous unauthorized withdrawals to her checking account that totaled about $500.

March 21

Arrest: Turdarrell A. Johnson, 39, was arrested at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown. Johnson, of North Lane, Youngstown, was accused of failing to appear in court on charges of possessing a dangerous drug, resisting arrest and obstructing official business.

Arrest: Police answered a disturbance call in the 100 block of Church Hill-Hubbard Road before charging Jordan W. Baxter, 50, of Church-Hill-Hubbard Road, Liberty, with assault, criminal trespassing, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. After a woman alleged Baxter had grabbed her neck, he refused to leave the apartment; police also had to use a stun gun when he refused several times to cooperate, they said.

Stolen property: A traffic stop near Goleta Avenue resulted in misdemeanor charges of receiving stolen property and obstructing official business against Kenneth L. Favors, 59, of Foster Avenue, Youngstown. Favors, who police said had two bags of stolen steaks, also lied to officers, a report showed.

Harassment: A Catherine Street woman reported a man has been calling her since January trying to sell her insurance, despite the accuser’s having asked him to cease calling.

March 23

Burglary: To a second-floor apartment in the 200 block of Colonial Drive, from which $2,800 worth of merchandise, including jewelry, was taken.

Attempted breaking and entering: Someone tried to break into Motel 30, 1600 Motor Inn Drive, through a front window. Also several attempts were made to enter via other doors and windows, police discovered.

GIRARD

March 20

Theft: A man in his 30s with sideburns stole a book of 100 Ohio Lottery tickets from Highland Dairy, 722 N. Highland Ave.

March 21

Arrest: Police dealt with an unwanted person in the 100 block of North Avenue, where they took into custody 33-year-old Stephanie Waychoff of Elberen Avenue, Youngstown, on a warrant from that city.

Theft: A North Lorain Avenue woman reported her son’s $110 bicycle stolen.

Menacing: A Trumbull Avenue man alleged a neighbor threatened to harm and kill him regarding where the neighbor had parked his vehicle and as part of ongoing problems between them.

March 22

Assault: Police charged Patrick A. Wiery, 27, of Dearborn Street, Girard, and Charlene S. Bayley, 44, of Trumbull Avenue, Girard, with assault and disorderly conduct, respectively, after responding to a possible assault in the 100 block of Trumbull. Bayley reported having been punched three times in the face, a report showed.

March 23

Arrest: Officers responded to an intoxicated woman reportedly trying to fight with a family member before charging 22-year-old Denise Shoemaker of Church Hill Road, Girard, with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Shoemaker swore several times at authorities and refused to cooperate, they said.

March 24

Menacing: A Dearborn Avenue man alleged his brother threatened to kill him.
