Findings unavailable for spat between Austintown superintendent and board member
AUSTINTOWN — An internal investigation into allegations made during an October Austintown Board of Education meeting has ended without the results being known.
The board had a special session this morning at its South Raccoon Road offices. The agenda said the meeting was to “be a discussion with regard to employment of personnel.”
The investigation started after board member Harold Porter and Superintendent Vincent Colaluca filed complaints against each other with Austintown police.
Colaluca said Porter bullied him, and Porter said Colaluca made unwanted comments toward him.
According to the police report, Colaluca was told by board member Dr. David Ritchie that Porter threatened him after an Oct. 22 board meeting. Porter told police he walked over to Dr. Ritchie and told him, “You better tell him [Colaluca] to stop or I’m going off on him!” Porter then told police he had no intention of doing anything physical toward Colaluca.
A statement released by board President Kathy Mock on Monday afternoon said there was an investigation into the matter. The allegations, the investigation, and the findings were unavailable today.
Mock wrote in the statement, “The report will be addressed with Mr. Porter and Mr. Colaluca and encourages professional communication and mutual respect.”
