Child confirmed dead inside burning W. Pa. home

MCKEESPORT, Pa. (AP) — A 2-year-old child has died in a fire in the Pittsburgh suburb of McKeesport that injured two other residents and two firefighters.

McKeesport Deputy Fire Chief Don Sabol says the fire started about 11:30 p.m. Sunday at the child’s home, then burned houses on either side of that structure.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation today by Allegheny County fire marshals.

Investigators have yet to release the names of the victims. Sabol says some extended family members lived in the home where the fire started, but investigators didn’t say how or whether the dead child and the two other injured residents were related.

The house where the fire started collapsed, while the neighboring homes suffered heavy damage. A fourth home suffered smoke and water damage.
