A city man faces charges of assault on a police officer, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct after his arrest early Sunday at Juanita and Norwood avenues. About 12:45 a.m. Sunday, police responded to Norwood Avenue after reports of a loud house party. As police were breaking up the party, a man later identified as Dana M. Harris, 21, began screaming outside the house. Police said they tried to arrest Harris for disorderly conduct, but he struggled with officers — even punching an officer in the face.

Police confiscated a syringe and pills from a 39-year-old city man who was arrested on charges of possession of dangerous drugs and drug-abuse instruments, along with assault on an officer, early Sunday. Officers reported to the 10 block of Whitney Avenue at 1 a.m. Sunday after a family member of Michael Keith Morina called police, saying she was fearful of his violent behavior and had left the residence. Morina reluctantly agreed to go with police to seek counseling for his issues, but became upset after realizing he could not smoke a cigarette on his way. He pulled out a pocket knife and began waving it; police said they later found a pair of pliers, a toddler fork, a syringe and four pills on Morina.
