Diana Tremblay, vice president of General Motors global business services, is the keynote speaker at the 22nd annual ATHENA Award dinner May 22 at Mr. Anthony’s Banquet Center, 7440 South Ave.

The award recognizes area business and professional women who distinguish themselves in terms of professional achievement, community service and support for professional women.

The dinner is hosted by the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber and The Vindicator, but additional sponsors are being sought.

The Mahoning Valley Safety Council and co-sponsors the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber and City Machine Technologies Inc. are seeking nominations for the 2014 Joan Kovach Safety Leadership Award by April 1.

The award is given to individuals and companies that have shown leadership in safety training, operations, funding and communications.

The recipient and nominees with be honored at the eighth annual MVSC Safety Awards luncheon May 14 at Antone’s Banquet Center, 8578 Market St.

Texas Roadhouse restaurant to open

The new Texas Roadhouse restaurant, 1221 Boardman-Poland Road, opens Monday from 4 to 10 p.m. The restaurant is near the Kmart store.

The restaurant, which created 175 new jobs, is known for its hand-cut steaks, made-from-scratch sides, and fresh-baked bread, according to a company press release.

The Louisville, Ky.-based company operates more than 420 locations in 49 states.

Chamber, YSU are hosting 2 programs

The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber and Youngstown State University next month will host two free internship and co-op educational programs for careers in manufacturing.

The events, on April 1 and April 24, will feature a breakfast information session and recruitment workshops, made possible by grants to YSU’s STEM college.

They both kick off with registration and breakfast at 7:30 a.m., followed by presentations from 8 to around 10:30 a.m.

The first will take place at the Holiday Inn in Boardman, 7410 South Ave., and the second will take place at the Trumbull Country Club, 600 Golf Drive NE in Warren.
