Ohio judge won't be charged in pedestrian death

CINCINNATI (AP) — Police in Cincinnati say a state appeals court judge was not at fault and won’t be charged in the death of a pedestrian he hit with his car on a busy road in December.

Police said today that 60-year-old Pamela Barnett was impaired by cocaine when she crossed the road during rush hour outside of the crosswalk and was hit by a 2013 Cadillac SRX driven by 59-year-old Patrick Dinkelacker, a judge with the 1st District Court of Appeals.

Barnett, who had stopped on the center line, was knocked by Judge Dinkelacker’s SUV into the opposite lanes of the road and was hit by a second car. She was pronounced dead at the scene of the Dec. 10 accident on Central Parkway.

Police also cleared the driver of the second car.
