PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Police say they are searching for a suspect in a stabbing that injured an off-duty Philadelphia police officer and a bartender.

Authorities say the stabbings happened around 11 p.m. Thursday in Center City.

The off-duty officer, whose name has not been released, was stabbed twice in the chest and once in the leg. He is hospitalized in stable condition. The bartender was treated for a stab wound to the chin and released.

Chief Inspector Scott Small said investigators believe they know who was responsible and are searching for the suspect.

He says a weapon that appears to be some kind of hunting knife was recovered and will be examined for fingerprints and DNA.
