The Canfield High School Speech and Debate team competed at the Northern Ohio District Tournament at Boardman High School.

At the conclusion of the tournament, Canfield earned a team record of 8 national qualifiers to the National Speech and Debate Association’s National Tournament to be in Overland Park, Kan. in June.

Canfield also won Team Sweepstakes at this tournament, earning the title of District Champions.

The National Qualifiers are Stephen Gant and Maleck Saleh, juniors (Public Forum Debate), Julie Gemmel and Rayann Atway, seniors (Public Forum Debate), Will Brown and Kareem Soliman, seniors (Public Forum Debate), Arjun Subramanyam, senior (United States Extemporaneous Speaking), and Michael Stefanick, freshman (Dramatic Interpretation).

Dominique Favre, senior placed fourth in Humorous Interpretation, Lindsay Heldreth, senior placed fourth in Lincoln-Douglas Debate, Sara Lytle, senior placed fifth in Lincoln-Douglas Debate, Arjun Subramanyam, senior placed third in International Extemporaneous Speaking, Cameron Maras, junior placed fifth in International Extemporaneous Speaking, and Alec Kan, sophomore placed seventh in United States Extemporaneous Speaking.

Lindsay Heldreth also earned a qualification to the OHSSL state tournament.
