YSU art exhibition to open at museum

The 78th annual Juried Student Art and Design Exhibition will be March 28-April 11 at the McDonough Museum of Art on the campus of Youngstown State University.

An opening reception, free to the public, will begin at 6 p.m. March 28, with the awards presentation at 7 p.m.

The exhibition, sponsored by the YSU Student Art Association, features works by the school’s art students. Award categories include photography, painting, sculpture, digital media, graphic design, interactive design and packaging.

This year, the juror is Dan Byers, who is the Richard Armstrong curator of modern and contemporary art at Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh, and co-curator of the 2013 Carnegie International.

The McDonough Museum of Art is on Wick Avenue between Spring Street and Lincoln Avenue. Hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Admission is free. For information, call 330-941-1400.
