Unidentified person dies in Goshen Township fire

GOSHEN — A representative from the Mahoning County Coroner’s office was called to the scene of a garage fire at a Country Club Drive home this afternoon.

George Vernon, assistant chief of the Damascus Fire Department, said he was not yet sure if the person who died in the fire was a man or woman.

Vernon said the one-car garage was unattached, and crews were called to the scene about 2:50 p.m. The garage and a car inside were destroyed, Vernon said.
