State gymnastics championships coming to Niles

Nearly 700 Ohio gymnasts are expected to compete in the 2014 Women’s Gymnastics State Championships, set for Friday through Sunday at The Mayor Ralph A. Infante Wellness Center.

Olympic Dreams Gymnastics is hosting the state-wide event. Gary and Dawn Toussaint, Olympic Dreams’ owners, are the meet directors.

The top gymnasts in Ohio’s Junior Olympic programs will compete to earn spots in April’s regional championships. The national championship is in May.

Admission is $7 for adults, $6 for students ages 13-17 and $5 for children ages 6-12. Children under the age of 6 will be admitted free of charge.

Each day of the three-day event, there will be multiple competitive sessions. Competition start times are as follows:

Friday: 8:45 a.m., noon, 3:40 p.m. and 6:10 p.m.

Saturday: 9 a.m., 1:15 p.m., and 5:30 p.m.

Sunday: 8:45 a.m. and 12:45 p.m.

The most advanced competitions are scheduled on Saturday.
