Police have description of Liberty hit-and-run vehicle

Staff report

LIBERTY

Police have a description of a vehicle that hit a Girard man in Liberty and drove away.

It still will not be easy to find, said Detective Sgt. Tom Couche.

Police recovered a side mirror from the spot where David Blair, 21, was hit while he was crossing the state Route 11 overpass on Church Hill-Hubbard Road at 4 a.m. March 9.

The mirror is an after-market, power-heated type that was made as a replacement for original mirrors on Dodge Ram 1500 pickup trucks from 2002 to 2008, Couche said Wednesday.

He said there is no other evidence, not even the truck’s color.

Couche said anyone who knows of a truck fitting the description that has the passenger-side mirror missing can call Liberty police at 330-759-1315.

Blair suffered a broken ankle, sprained knee, bruises and road rash in the hit-and-run.
