POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Hubbard, Liberty and Girard:

HUBBARD

March 14

Domestic violence: Jeffrey A. Williams of Clingan Avenue, Hubbard, was charged with the crime after a family member alleged Williams, 41, had pushed her to the ground during an argument and bit her left hand.

Theft: A Hubbard woman reported that after having lost her wallet while in the 600 block of North Main Street, she discovered numerous items, including cash, a checkbook and a debit card, were missing.

March 15

Menacing: A Jones Street man said a township man, 53, drove by while the accuser was at a gas station and apparently tried to initiate a confrontation as part of ongoing problems between them.

Menacing: A Charles Street man told officers someone twice pulled in front of his home, causing the accuser to fear for his and his family’s safety.

Menacing: A man reported a township man followed him after the accuser had left a North Main Street caf .

March 16

Arrest: Police arrested 49-year-old Charles H. Doerr of Jackson Street, Hubbard, in a backyard in the 40 block of Jackson. Doerr was wanted on two warrants charging one count each of larceny and criminal trespassing.

March 17

Arrest: A traffic stop near Jacobs and Youngstown-Hubbard roads resulted in the arrest of 23-year-old David M. Turner Jr. of Brookside Drive, Hubbard, on charges of escape, obstructing official business, carrying a concealed weapon and driving under suspension. Turner had a 5-inch knife with a set of attached brass knuckles, led officers on a foot pursuit and provided a false name; he also was wanted on a parole-violation charge from Lawrence County, Pa., and on two local warrants, police said.

March 18

Theft: Someone removed firewood from behind a garage in the 300 block of Rebecca Avenue.

LIBERTY

March 14

Theft: A Warren woman noticed her $100 iPhone missing while at a business in the 3400 block of Belmont Avenue.

Arrest: Police responded to an unwanted person near Roosevelt Drive before taking 26-year-old Jason Sheets into custody. Sheets, of Fenton Avenue, Niles, was wanted on a probation-violation charge from Girard Municipal Court.

Domestic violence: Christopher L. Miller, 50, of Anderson-Morris Road, Niles, was charged with the crime after his girlfriend alleged Miller had grabbed her arms and hit the accuser, causing her head to strike a door frame, during an argument. She had redness on her forehead.

Robbery: A Rose Avenue man told officers a 37-year-old neighbor pounded on his door and demanded $20 before grabbing his wallet and fleeing in a small gray vehicle.

Vehicular assault: A Girard man reported that while walking on a bridge over state Route 11, a motorist struck him and fled. He was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.

Theft: Roughly $1,200 worth of copper piping was missing from a basement in the 3600 block of Sampson Road.

Arrest: Michael N. Childs Jr., 28, was arrested at the Mahoning County jail. The Akron man was wanted on a Girard Municipal Court warrant.

March 15

Assault/drugs: After pulling over a vehicle on Logan Avenue, authorities charged Jerahn N. Johnson of Cassius Street, Youngstown, with assault on a police officer, tampering with evidence, obstructing official business, resisting arrest and marijuana possession after alleging Johnson, 32, had struck an officer’s chest before leading police on a foot chase and forcing them to use a stun gun to bring him under control. Johnson also had a bag of suspected marijuana, a report showed.

Theft: A man discovered his cellphone missing while attending a function at W.S. Guy Middle School, 4115 Shady Road.

Arrest: Lisa M. Frankino, 47, of Madera Avenue, Youngstown, was charged with operating a vehicle impaired after police pulled her over near Tibbetts-Wick Road.

Assaults: A Colonial Drive woman reported her daughters, 12 and 17, were assaulted while in the 3100 block of Belmont Avenue. The older girl had been punched in the face, a report said.

March 16

Arrest: Authorities in the 2700 block of Belmont Avenue picked up Russell L. Hamilton, 28, of Amsterdam Road, Grove City, Pa. Hamilton was wanted on a warrant accusing him of failing to appear in court on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Breaking and entering: Police responded to an alarm at the former Roadway Inn, 1620 Motor Inn Drive, where they charged 27-year-old Abdre N. Slurry of Bellair Court, Niles, with breaking and entering. Slurry told officers he was in the building to pick up personal property, they said.

March 17

Theft: Hope L. Young, 27, of Whitman Street, Youngstown, was charged with stealing $116 worth of energy drinks from Giant Eagle, 4700 Belmont Ave.

Criminal damaging: Someone used a brick to break a balcony window to a home in the 30 block of Goldie Road and do an estimated $1,000 in damage.

Theft: A Warren man told police he made a $500 down payment for an event that was supposed to have been at the Roadway Inn, 1620 Motor Inn Drive, before it closed but was never refunded.

March 18

Domestic violence: Campbell police apprehended 25-year-old Robert D. Saunders of LaClede Avenue, Youngstown, who was wanted on a Girard Municipal Court warrant charging him.

Arrest: Jerome R. Prieto, 27, was arrested at the Mahoning County jail. Prieto, of Wellington Street, Youngstown, was wanted on an outstanding township warrant.

Citation: A traffic stop near Colonial Drive resulted in a citation charging 26-year-old Myran K. Clark of Roosevelt Drive, Liberty, with operating a vehicle impaired.

March 19

Assault: Authorities took into custody 27-year-old Derek E. Chittock of Lincoln Park Drive, Youngstown, on charges of assault and obstructing official business after a Colonial Drive man alleged Chittock had punched and choked him during an argument. Chittock also barricaded himself in a bedroom in the apartment and refused several times to come out for police, they said.

GIRARD

March 15

Criminal mischief: Someone used a rock or a BB to break a front window to a residence in the 20 block of Crumlin Avenue.

Felonious assault: A girl told police that a male held a knife to her throat as she walked on South Ward Avenue after having left a possible underage drinking party at a home in the 10 block of South Ward.

March 16

Domestic violence: A charge was pending against a man after a Dearborn Avenue woman alleged he had struck her face during an argument.

Theft: A man reported $30 stolen from his home in the 100 block of North Avenue.

Criminal mischief: Someone used yellow chalk to draw a satanic figure on a driveway in the 100 block of East Second Street.

March 17

Misuse of a credit card: An East Wilson Avenue woman learned that her credit/debit card had been used to make unauthorized charges in Niles and Warren.

Breaking and entering: A $500 semiautomatic handgun was taken from a home in the 800 block of North Ward Avenue, though police found no signs of forced entry.

Assault: Police responded to a possible fight in the 800 block of North Highland Avenue, where a man told them an intoxicated woman had repeatedly struck his head and face.

Assault: An East Wilson Avenue man reported another man beat up the accuser, resulting in shattered front teeth.

March 18

Theft: A woman reported 60 to 100 DVDs valued at $2,000 were stolen from her Trumbull Avenue residence.
