Ohio hoops players charged with bullying

HEATH, Ohio (AP) — A central Ohio prosecutor has charged two former high school basketball players with bullying teammates.

Licking County Prosecutor Ken Oswalt said Wednesday the charges against the senior Heath High School players stemmed from them holding down teammates and assaulting them.

One of the teens was charged in juvenile court with a delinquency third-degree felony count of abduction. Another was charged with delinquency misdemeanor counts of unlawful restraint and assault with complicity.

Oswalt said the alleged incidents occurred between June 1 and Nov. 30 of last year at school or at a school function. He said the conduct “exceeded the bounds of simple ‘teasing’ or horseplay”’

The teens were not arrested. They are scheduled to appear in juvenile court April 9.
