Meals on Wheels of Mahoning County is conducting its March for Meals Campaign to raise awareness of senior hunger and to encourage action on the part of communities. Meals on Wheels of Mahoning County is promoting the campaign through public events, partnerships with local businesses, volunteer recruitment and fundraising.

Open house: From 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at 1840 Market St., Youngstown. Meals on Wheels previously was housed at John Knox Presbyterian Church, which closed, and is now next door in Calvary Towers. A dedication is planned.

Background: Meals on Wheels Association of America is the only national organization and network dedicated to ending senior hunger in America. The association is the oldest and largest organization of local, community-based senior nutrition programs in 50 states and U.S. territories. More than 5,000 local Meals on Wheels programs operate through volunteer drivers and small staffs.

In the Valley: Meals on Wheels of Mahoning County was established in 1979. It serves residents in Youngstown, Austintown, Boardman, Campbell, Canfield, Poland and Struthers.
