Man killed in Goshen garage fire

GOSHEN

A representative from the Mahoning County Coroner’s office was called to the scene of a garage fire Thursday afternoon at a Country Club Drive home. George Vernon, assistant chief of the Damascus Fire Department, said it was a determined a man had died in the fire but he could not release the person’s name or any more information late Thursday.

Vernon said the one-car garage was unattached, and crews were called to the scene about 2:50 p.m. The garage and a car inside were destroyed, Vernon said. The cause for now is listed as undetermined, and the state fire marshal was called to investigate, Vernon said.
