AUSTINTOWN
A former tenant damaged an apartment after moving out.
According to a police report, Hillbrook Apartments called Austintown police Monday at about 9 a.m. on vandalism to a vacant apartment.
Nicole Keaton, a manager at Hillbrook, told police a tenant moved out about five days prior. The name of the tenant was redacted.
An officer went to the apartment and was told by maintenance that the hot water had been left running and the kitchen sink faucet had been broken off, causing water to spray all over the apartment. That had been going on for five days, according to the maintenance man.
The continuous spraying water damaged the new carpet, all the walls and the door had been warped, bathroom sinks, faucets, and the shower head were all broken off and the ceiling fan was warped and ruined. The loss was set at $1,000.
