Boardman home robbed of $46,000 worth of jewelry

BOARDMAN — A man and a woman robbed a house of $46,000 worth of jewelry Wednesday afternoon.

A married couple living on Fairfield Drive called police after being gone for about three hours and finding their rear garage door pried open.

The couple have video surveillance on their house, which they watched with police. According to a police report, the couple left their home at 11:50 a.m. and a silver hatchback vehicle was seen driving by the residence three times between 11:06 and 11:12 a.m. On the third drive by, the car pulled into the driveway and then backed out again.

A male and a female are then seen approaching the rear of the home at noon, looking into the home from a sliding glass door. The male then pried open the rear garage door with an unknown tool. While he opened the door, the female was seen talking on a handheld radio.

The two are seen leaving the home at 12:25 p.m. carrying a bag full of items and the male’s jacket bulging with items. Then they walk out of view of the camera.

The two were wearing gloves before entering the home and when they were leaving, according to a police report.

Jewelry and cash from a safe, located in a closet covered by clothes, were taken totaling $46,000.

The married couple did not recognize the two suspects.
