WARREN

Ashanta Gore, 26, of Autumn Drive, was sentenced to six months in prison Wednesday after pleading guilty to obstruction of justice for lying to police about the whereabouts of a 24-year-old Warren man who was hiding in her clothes dryer.

Members of the U.S. Marshals Violent Fugitives Task Force were looking for Taemarr Walker of Warren to arrest him on several charges July 17, 2013, and had reason to believe he would be at Gore’s residence.

When they arrived, they saw two females, a baby and a male through the window and heard people descending the stairs of the home.

Gore would not answer the door, so officers broke it down and found Walker in the clothes dryer.

“As we moved clothes from the dryer, we observed two feet with red socks on hanging out of the dryer,” a police report said. Walker was then arrested on the warrants.

Walker was killed several months later in a confrontation with a Warren police officer on Risher Road.

Sentenced Wednesday to two years in prison was Richard M. Clay, 25, of Oaklawn Avenue Southeast, who stabbed one man and hit another with his car outside the Wing Warehouse at Eastwood Mall in Niles on Dec. 29, 2013.

He pleaded guilty to two counts of felonious assault.

Witnesses said Clay and his brother were having an argument with two other men outside the restaurant at 12:30 a.m. when Richard Clay went to his car, got a knife and attacked one of the other men, who suffered a knife wound near his belt area.

As Clay was leaving in his vehicle, he struck another man, who went to the hospital for treatment. Howland police found Clay later walking on the street near his home.

Curtis L. Dorsey, 39, of Oak Circle Southwest, was sentenced to five years in prison for shooting a 68-year-old Ford Street Northwest man in the arm Dec. 2, 2012, in front of Dorsey’s house.

Dorsey pleaded guilty in the courtroom of Judge W. Wyatt McKay of Trumbull County Common Pleas Court to felonious assault and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
