YSU gets award

Youngstown

For the third-consecutive year, the Ohio Department of Health has recognized Youngstown State University with the Healthy Worksite Award. For 2013, YSU earned the Silver Award, up from the Bronze Award in 2011 and 2012. YSU won the honor in the Large Business category.

In all, 40 awards were presented, out of 96 applicants. Ohio State University was the only other university to receive an award, earning a Bronze. The awards recognize Ohio employers that demonstrate a commitment to employee health through comprehensive work-site health promotion and wellness programs.

Ukraine discussion

ALLIANCE

Dr. Michael Grossman, chairman and associate professor of political science and international studies at the University of Mount Union, will present “The Crisis in Ukraine: WWIII?” at 6 p.m. Thursday in Bracy Hall Room 04.

In light of the ongoing crisis in Ukraine, Grossman, who was born in the Soviet Union and lived in Israel, will discuss the history of the region and the conflict, how it has reached this point and the future of the region. A question-and-answer session follows his presentation. The event is free.

Relay for Life

YOUNGSTOWN

The American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life of Youngstown, from 6 p.m. April 11 to noon April 12 at Youngstown State University’s Beeghly Center, is recruiting teams to participate in the event.

The Youngstown Relay for Life organization will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Cassese’s MVR restaurant, 410 N. Walnut St.
