Maple syrup festival at Boardman park

BOARDMAN

The 37th annual Maple Syrup Festival will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, and again on March 29 and 30, at Boardman Township Park, U.S. Route 224. Admission is free.

The park staff will demonstrate how maple trees are tapped and how the sap is boiled to make syrup. Maple syrup will be available for purchase.

The festival will also include an encampment of Civil War re-enactors and wood carvers. The Boardman Historical Society and the Watercolor Society will be on hand, and there will be wagon rides through the woods.

Boy Scout Troop 60 will demonstrate Scouting skills, and Scout parents will offer a basket raffle.

The Boardman Rotary Club will have its annual pancake breakfast each day of the festival. The cost is $6 (free for children age 6 and under).

Downtown events can apply for grants

Youngstown

The city of Youngstown is accepting applications for the 2014 event grant program through April 17. The program is designed to attract and assist organizations that are planning events in and around downtown.

Struthers High offers ‘Who Dunit’
