Renowned physicist and best-selling author Michio Kaku, whose pursuit to complete the “theory of everything” has brought him international attention, will discuss “Explorations in Science” 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Stambaugh Auditorium as part of Youngstown State University’s Skeggs Lecture Series. His appearance here is sold out.

Kaku, a who regularly appears on “CBS This Morning” and other programs, is the author of two New York Times best sellers and also has hosted numerous documentaries on the Discovery Channel, the Science Channel and BBC-TV.

His latest book, “The Future of the Mind,” released last month, is No. 1 on the New York Times list.

The Henry Semat Chair in Theoretical Physics at the City University of New York, Kaku graduated from Harvard University in 1968, earned a doctorate in physics from the University of California at Berkeley in 1972 and has been a professor at CUNY for almost 30 years.

His goal is to complete Einstein’s dream of a “theory of everything,” to derive an equation, perhaps no more than 1 inch long, that will summarize all the physical laws of the universe.

He is the co-founder of string field theory, a major branch of string theory, which is the leading candidate today for the theory of everything. Kaku hosts his own national weekly radio program called “Science Fantastic.” It is the largest nationally syndicated science-radio show on commercial radio in the United States. He has written in several publications, including Time, Discover and The Wall Street Journal.
