POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:

POLAND

March 14

Criminal damaging: A driveway in the 6100 block of Acatello Place sustained $400 in damage.

BOARDMAN

March 14

Arrest: Destiny D. Gibson, 27, was taken into custody at her Appleridge Circle residence. The Boardman woman was accused of failing to appear in court.

Drugs: A traffic stop near Stanton Avenue led to the arrests of Jai B. Price Sr., 38, of Norwood Avenue, Youngstown, on charges of trafficking in drugs, drug possession, resisting arrest and obstructing official business; also taken into custody was Teanisha S. Mitchell, 35, of Hilton Avenue, Youngstown, on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia as well as on three warrants. Price, who police said had four bags of suspected marijuana totaling 68.3 grams, along with several Oxycodone tablets, tried to flee and fought with officers, they alleged.

Theft: James P. Pastore of Forest Ridge Drive, Boardman, surrendered on a theft warrant. The 65-year-old Pastore was accused of stealing two ink cartridges from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive, during a Dec. 27 shoplifting situation.

Aggravated menacing: A manager at a McDonald’s restaurant, 1110 Boardman-Poland Road, alleged an employee threatened to return to embark on a shooting spree, apparently after having been sent home for insubordination.

Misuse of a credit card: Tera M. Welsh, 27, of Grover Drive, Boardman, surrendered on felony warrants charging misuse of a credit card and receiving stolen property after a township woman discovered her stolen bank card had been used at a Southern Park Mall restaurant and other locations to rack up about $300 in fraudulent charges.

March 15

Assault: A Waynesville, Ohio, woman was one of four people who reported having been assaulted during a fight at a Tiffany Boulevard motel. She was not injured, however.

Felonious assault/criminal damaging: Authorities responded to a possible burglary in the 700 block of East Midlothian Boulevard, where a Sheridan Road woman alleged a man pushed her into a TV set, strangled the accuser and dragged her outside by the hair before fleeing. He also tried several times to strike her vehicle with his, a report showed.

Fraud: A Sigle Lane woman told police a caller claiming to be her grandson had been arrested on a drunken-driving charge before a second man came on the line asking her to send $1,300 via Western Union to Reading, Pa. The victim later learned it was a scam.

Domestic violence: James D. Ehrhart, 40, of Boardman, was taken into custody on a felony domestic-violence warrant after his former girlfriend alleged Ehrhart had grabbed her neck, thrown her to the ground and pushed her out of his Bonnie Place apartment when she tried to retrieve personal belongings.

Theft: Jessica M. Francis, 24, of Park Avenue, Struthers, was charged in the theft of $87 worth of merchandise from Walmart. Also, a 14-year-old Struthers girl was detained.

Domestic violence: Authorities answered a call about a possible assault at a Market Street motel, where they charged Eddie C. Pierce, 34, with one felony count of domestic violence after his girlfriend alleged Pierce, of Jean Street, Campbell, had punched her repeatedly during an argument and threatened to harm her with a box cutter. Pierce also was wanted on two warrants.

Fraud: A Huntington Drive man reported having received a FedEx package containing two credit cards, each issued to someone he didn’t know, that a third person claimed had applied for.

Criminal damaging: A vehicle in the 700 block of East Midlothian Boulevard was found with a broken front windshield. Damage came to $500.

Aggravated menacing: A traffic stop near Lake Park Road resulted in the arrest of 24-year-old India D. Burley of Hunter Avenue, Youngstown, who was wanted on an aggravated-menacing warrant, a first-degree misdemeanor.

Theft: Daniel J. Nicora, 38, of Salinas Trail, Boardman, faced one count each of theft and endangering a child after a $33 steak and a beef filet were stolen from Giant Eagle, 476 Boardman-Canfield Road. Nicora also fled and left his 10-year-old son in the store, a report said.

Theft/weapons: Jason S. Dunkle-Thacker, 19, of East Judson Avenue, Youngstown; Pierre H. Thacker, 22, also of East Judson; and Alexander D. Spencer, 19, of Summer Street, Youngstown, were charged after a $50 speaker, four compact discs, two T-shirts and candy were stolen from Walmart. Dunkle-Thacker also faced two counts of improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle when, authorities said, two loaded handguns were in the trunk.

March 16

Theft: A man and a woman in their late teens or early 20s stole six cans of baby formula from Walmart.

Burglary: Someone entered an apartment in the 6000 block of Applecrest Court through its unlocked front door. A $500 cellphone and $80 were removed.

Citation: Officers responded to a car stuck on railroad tracks near Southern Boulevard before citing 19-year-old Marina Neskovic of Vine Street, Girard, on charges of operating a vehicle impaired and failing to control a motor vehicle.

Domestic violence: Daniel R. Parker, 27, of Sunnybrooke Drive, Youngstown, faced charges of domestic violence, violating a protection order and marijuana possession after his wife alleged Parker came to her Flagler Lane residence in violation of the order, peered through a window and threatened to kill her. Parker also had a bag of suspected marijuana in his socks, police said.

Theft: A woman stole a $25 DVD set and a $12 DVD from Walmart.

Theft by deception: A Walmart loss-prevention official told police two men gave a cashier a $100 bill for merchandise, then continually distracted the worker, resulting in a drawer shortage of an undisclosed sum of money.

Theft: Victor L. Daprile of Twin Oaks Court, Canfield, was charged. The 29-year-old Daprile was accused in the theft of $399 worth of men’s clothing from Macy’s in the Southern Park Mall.

Domestic violence: Police signed a felony domestic-violence charge against 54-year-old Darlene M. Evans of Reed Street, Struthers, after her daughter, of Boardman, alleged an intoxicated Evans had pushed her during an argument and tried to kick and punch the accuser.

Theft: Sara C. Noling, 27, of East Taggert Street, East Palestine, was charged with stealing $157 worth of merchandise, including teeth-whitening strips, from Walmart.

Theft: Two women stole five packages of children’s socks, two packages of children’s undergarments, soap and kitchen towels from Dollar General, 859 E. Midlothian Blvd.

March 17

Burglary: To a residence in the 300 block of Meadowbrook Avenue, from which a .405-caliber handgun was taken.

Assault: A resident at a Sunset Boulevard group home alleged a staff member had slapped her face after the accuser apparently refused to follow instructions.

Citation: Police issued a citation charging Stephen K. Watkins, 27, of East Evanston Avenue, Youngstown, with soliciting without a permit while on South Avenue.

March 18

Drugs: A traffic stop in the 6200 block of South Avenue resulted in a summons charging 30-year-old Candis O. Bacher of Stewart Avenue, Youngstown, with possession of drug-abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia when, police said, Bacher had a spoon with suspected drug residue and suspected crack-cocaine pipes.

Domestic violence: David L. Klemm of Cook Avenue, Boardman, faced felony charges of domestic violence and felonious assault after his wife alleged Klemm, 62, had repeatedly punched her face during an argument. The domestic-violence count was upgraded to a fifth-degree felony because of a prior conviction; the felonious-assault charge was because of the extent of the victim’s injuries, a report showed.
