Historical society is searching for mill workers

NEW CASTLE, PA.

The Lawrence County Historical Society is preparing a new exhibit, When Forges Roared: Titans and Tradesmen of Lawrence County’s Industrial Revolution, which will open July 12 during the Fireworks Festival.

Part of the exhibit will feature tradesmen who worked the early iron furnaces to present day steel manufacturers in Lawrence County.

The society is creating a Wall of Workers and is looking for photos and information to post.

Photos, names, manufacturing places (Wampum Iron Furnace, Johnston Bronze, Carnegie Steel, Tin Mill, Blair Steel, etc.), dates worked there (can be approximate), and job or duty should be included.

Photos and information should be mailed, emailed or dropped off at the society with the information requested. Do not send original photos. The deadline is April 30.
