Youngstown CityScape’s 17th annual Streetscape program, called We Canna! Canna You?, will be May 31.

The program works to beautify downtown and surrounding areas by planting flowers and shrubs, mulching areas and removing debris. Focus areas include Wick Park, West and East Federal streets, John Young Memorials, the Police Memorial at Front Street and South Avenue, Choffin hillside, city hall and Wick Park.

A breakfast kickoff is set for 8 a.m. Friday at the D.D. and Velma Davis Center at Mill Creek MetroParks’ Fellows Riverside Gardens.

Blaze investigated

YOUNGSTOWN

Fire officials are searching for the cause of a blaze that caused $3,000 damage to a vacant East Side home about 8:20 p.m. Sunday.

Crews called to 28 S. Bruce St. found a fire on the first floor and were able to keep the blaze from extending to the second floor, reports said. No one was injured.
