Ohio teen charged after father's shooting death

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio (AP) — Authorities in southern Ohio have charged a 14-year-old boy with murder after the fatal shooting of the teen’s father.

Scioto County Sheriff Marty Donini says deputies found the body of the man after receiving a 911 call Sunday.

The sheriff says the caller reported that a boy had come to his house saying he had shot his father.

Donini says the 14-year-old boy was taken into custody and charged with murder after consultation with the Scioto County Prosecutor’s Office.

The sheriff says the boy’s 48-year-old father was found dead of an apparent gunshot wound.

The boy is in the Ross County Juvenile Detention Center, and Donini says more charges could be brought.
