Dr. Wayland Wong, an otolaryngologist, will present a free educational program, “New Trends in Sinus Treatment,” at 7 p.m. April 1 at Boardman Holiday Inn, 7410 South Ave.

The presentation will be preceded at 6:30 p.m. by displays and a complete paper sinus screening assessment. Light refreshments will be provided, and participants will have an opportunity to register for door prizes that may be helpful in providing sinus symptom relief.

Volunteers sought for terminally ill

SHARON, PA.

The Hospice and Palliative Care Program of Sharon Regional Health System is recruiting volunteers to help families of the terminally ill in Mercer and northern Lawrence counties in Pennsylvania.

Prospective volunteers must complete a five-week training series that runs from 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesdays March 25 through April 22 at Sharon Regional’s Cancer Care Center, 2320 Highland Road, Hermitage, Pa.

The training sessions cover the basics of hospice care, communication skills, spirituality at the end of life, dealing with grief, and advance care planning. For information and to register, call Erin Zahniser at 724-983-3878.

Nutrition and tension relief program

Experts will present programs from 4 to 6 p.m. March 25 at the D.D. and Velma Davis Education & Visitor Center, Millcreek MetroParks, to boost nutrition and relieve tension.

The presenters are: Doris Bullock, co-owner of Fit Family in Austintown; June Ewing, former supervisor and nutrition educator for The Ohio State University Extension Office; and Madelon Sabine, certified yoga instructor.

Free bariatric surgery info session

Sharon Regional Health System is offering a free bariatric surgery informational session at noon Wednesday at the New Englander, 3009 Wilmington Road.

The session includes information on obesity and its impact on overall health, a review of surgical weight-loss options including benefits and risks, and a look at Body Mass Index to assist participants in making an informed decision about surgical weight-loss treatments.
