Boardman police arrest Youngstown woman

BOARDMAN —Boardman police arrested a 30-year-old Youngstown woman early today after police say she was operating a vehicle while impaired.

Candis Bacher of Stewart Avenue was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and drug abuse instruments.

Bacher was stopped by the OVI Task Force of Mahoning County for multiple lane violations at 12:30 a.m. today.

Police say Bacher had bloodshot, watery eyes and constricted pupils when she was stopped on South Avenue.

The driver did not have a license to provide to police and she appeared nervous when talking to police, according to a police report. Police found she did have a valid license, but also had several drug suspensions. She was asked to exit the vehicle to perform field tests.

Bacher told police she did not want to go to jail because she would get sick since she used heroin at 11 p.m.

Two glass crack pipes with residue, a pipe push rod, a metal spoon with residue and several used syringes were found in the vehicle.

Two additional crack pipes with residue were also found on Bacher.

Bacher has an initial appearance scheduled in Mahoning County Area Court in Boardman at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
