AKRON CHILDREN’S NEW NICU

AKRON CHILDREN’S NEW NICU

Akron Children’s Hospital is preparing to move its neonatal intensive-care unit and maternity ward from St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown to St. Elizabeth Boardman. Benefits of the new NICU include:

Individual rooms promote breast-milk pumping at the baby’s bedside, which can improve milk production.

Enhanced infection control.

Quieter environment.

Improved security with the addition of electronic security tags and operation as a locked unit.

Faster response time for transfers from other hospitals, as Akron Children’s transport team is stationed nearby at the Beeghly Campus.
