Ohio teen shot after party dies in hospital

GARFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio (AP) — A 15-year-old northeast Ohio boy has died after being shot in the head outside a teen party at a church.

The family of Davone Wright tells WOIO-TV that the teen died at a hospital Sunday after being shot Friday night in the parking lot of the Word of Righteousness Family Center, in the Cleveland suburb of Garfield Heights.

Witnesses say the teens in the parking lot started to scatter when they heard there was a gun, and Wright was in the line of fire. Friends insist he wasn’t involved in any altercations that could have led to the shooting.

Wright’s stepfather, Bryan Wright, says he believes the young man was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

There have been no arrests.
