General Motors is recalling more than 1.5 million additional vehicles because of defective air bags and other problems, according to an Associated Press report.

The new recall, which includes SUVs, vans and Cadillacs, comes on the heels of a prior recall that included more than 1.6 million cars that had been built with a faulty ignition switch.

GM is currently facing multiple investigations into its handling of that situation.

According to the AP, today’s recall is not related to the ignition switch issue, which is linked to 12 deaths.

GM on Monday recalled 1.18 million SUVs because the side air bags, front center air bags and seat belt pre-tensioners might not deploy if drivers ignore an air bag warning light. Those vehicles include the Buick Enclave and GMC Acadia from the 2008-2013 model years, the Chevrolet Traverse from the 2009-2013 model years, and Saturn Outlook from the 2008-2010 model years.

Also a part of Monday’s recall were 303,000 Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana vans from model years 2009-2014 because the material on the instrument panel might not protect unbelted passengers’ heads in a crash.

Finally, a plug in the brake assembly with the potential to become dislodged prompted the company to recall 63,900 Cadillac STX sedans from the 2013 and 2014 model years.

GM said no injuries have been linked to any of the defects.

GM expects to spend $300 million this quarter to repair vehicles in this fresh round of recalls, as well as the initial, smaller-car recall.
