Biden goes to Pa. for St. Patrick’s Day event

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. (AP) — Vice President Joe Biden and Dr. Jill Biden will be in Pennsylvania for St. Patrick’s Day events.

The vice president speaks this evening at the 100th anniversary celebration of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick Greater Pittston 100th Anniversary at Woodlands Resort.

A number of political figures have spoken at the annual banquet over the decades, including President Harry Truman and Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy.

Biden is a Scranton native who has been to the region five times since taking office.

Dr. Jill Biden is scheduled to speak shortly before noon to the 15th anniversary celebration of Dress for Success Lackawanna.

This evening, she attends a reception for the Society of Irish Women’s 16th annual St. Patrick’s Day Dinner.
