Submit info for Holy Week, Easter

The Vindicator will run a listing of area services that are open to the public in observance of Palm Sunday, April 13; Holy Thursday, April 17; Good Friday, April 18; Holy Saturday, April 19; and Easter, April 20.

The deadline to submit information is 5 p.m. April 9. Publication will be April 12.

Information should include the denomination and name of the church, address, city or suburb, the day, time, type of service, your name and a phone number for verification.

Growth institute

YOUNGSTOWN

Mount Zion Baptist Church, 827 Wilson Ave., will present “Church Growth Institute Conference” from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 29.

Facilitators will be the Rev. Ricky Tigner, stewardship; the Rev. Chris McKee, leadership; and the Rev. Kevin Crum, congregation

The cost is $10 with registration form to Deacon John Jemsion or trustee Joe Williams. Lunch will be provided.

Praise, worship

SOUTHINGTON

Southington United Methodist Church, located at the town center on state Route 305, will host a night of praise and worship featuring the praise and worship band at 7 p.m. March 22. Refreshments served.

First Friday

BOARDMAN

Timothy R. Smith, musician, composer and speaker, will be the featured speaker when the First Friday Club of Greater Youngstown meets April 3 at Antone’s Banquet Centre, 8578 Market St.

His topic will be “The Place of Liturgical Music in Worship.”

His songs combine traditional and contemporary musical styles. Some of Smith’s well-known liturgical compositions include “Voice Of Christ,” “Give Me Ears To Listen” and “O Mother Of Jesus.”

Sing-along set

LIBERTY

A free Saturday night sing-along is planned March 22 at New Life Christian Fellowship, 2088 Tibbetts-Wick Road.

Doors open at 6 p.m. At 6:30, there will be a concert by Rodd Coonce followed by the sing-along with old favorites “The Old Rugged Cross,” “In the Garden,” “Because He Lives,” and “How Great Thou Art.”

Choir celebration

The adult choir of Mount Gilead Baptist Church, 2821 Hillman St., will celebrate its pre-anniversary at 4:30 p.m. Sunday.

Guest speaker will be the Curtis Minter and congregation from Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, Akron.

Taiz service

First Presbyterian Church, 201 Wick Ave., will conduct a Taiz service at 7 p.m. Thursday with Scripture, music, candles and silence.

The event is open to all.

Minister Judy Meeks of Antioch Baptist Church will speak at a soup and salad feast at 4 p.m. today at Oak Missionary Baptist Church, 320 Elk St., sponsored by the pastor’s aide department.

There will be praise dancers, singers and prizes.
