Skywarn training to be offered

AUSTINTOWN

The Mahoning County Emergency Management Agency will offer its annual Skywarn training for tornado spotting that will begin with sign-in at 5:15 p.m. and training at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Austintown Fitch High School, 4560 Falcon Drive.

The training will last about two hours, with a break included. Participants do not have to be amateur radio operators to attend. Training is free and open to the public.

Gary Garnett, warning coordinator for the National Weather Service, will conduct the training and discuss severe weather, helping spotters identify potentially serious weather patterns and how to report this information to the NWS Cleveland office.

Missing man found

BOARDMAN

Thomas Nagle, 43 of Boardman, was found Thursday afternoon after a report was made Thursday morning that said he had been missing for two days. His mother, Barbara Nagle, confirmed that he was safe and at home. Details about where he was found were unavailable Friday afternoon.

Unclaimed-funds list to be published

YOUNGSTOWN

Ohio Department of Commerce Director Andre T. Porter urges Mahoning County residents to read Tuesday’s edition of The Vindicator to find out if they are entitled to unclaimed funds turned over to the state Division of Unclaimed Funds in the past year.

Unclaimed funds are money or the rights to money that have been dormant or forgotten.

Some examples include: dormant checking and savings accounts, forgotten rent and utility deposits, uncashed checks, undelivered stock certificates and uncashed insurance policies.

The listing in Tuesday’s newspaper will include 3,545 unclaimed funds accounts worth $2,856,324.60.

United Way improves website

YOUNGSTOWN

The United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley said its improved website, www.ymvunitedway.org, makes its easier to register online for the agency’s events, such as the April 3 annual meeting at the Lake Club in Poland.

To register, click on the event, such as the “United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley annual meeting” and then on “Register Now.”

“It is also a place to check out the ways the local United Way impacts the community,” said Roxann Sebest, United Way spokeswoman.

MYCAP to sponsor job fair Wednesday

SEBRING

The Western Mahoning County office of the Mahoning Youngstown Community Action Partnership (MYCAP), 305 N. 15th St., Sebring, is offering a Job and Information Fair from noon to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

All residents 18 and older who live in Sebring, Goshen Township, Alliance or other areas of Western Mahoning County can attend the fair, at which Mancan Employment Services will recruit people to fill positions at companies in western Mahoning County.

MYCAP and Ohio Department of Job and Family Services staff will be on hand to explain community services available. For information, call 330-938-6166. The office is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
