Spirituality day

CANFIELD

A Women’s Spirituality Day, sponsored by the Ursuline Sisters of Youngstown, is planned from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 5 at the Ursuline Center, 4280 Shields Road.

Keynote speaker will be Sister Lisa Marie Belz, an Ursuline sister of Cleveland. She teaches Scripture, spirituality and theology courses for the Religious Studies Department and Graduate Ministry Program at Ursuline College of Cleveland. She has served on the Cleveland-Latin American Mission Team in El Salvador.

Cost is $26 and includes lunch. Registration is requested by March 31. After that, registration at the door will be $28.

St. Joseph feast

Community lecture

YOUNGSTOWN

Dr. Andy Bannister and Dr. Mustansir Mir will explore the philosophical difference between free will and determinism during a lecture from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Butler North, Wick Avenue.

The event is part of the community lecture series “Are We Free and Does It Matter?”

Bannister is the Canadian director and lead apologist for RZIM Canada and adjunct research fellow at the Centre for the Study of Islam and Other Faiths at Melbourne School of Theology. Dr. Mir is a professor of Islamic studies at Youngstown State University.

Taiz prayer

VILLA MARIA, PA.

Villa Maria Education and Spirituality Center will host Taiz prayer at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Magnificat Chapel.

Participants will gather around the cross for prayer in the tradition of the ecumenical monastery of Taiz , France. This Christian interdenominational prayer form includes music, Scripture and silence.

Light refreshments and fellowship will follow the service.

There is no charge to attend.

19th anniversary

The 19th anniversary of Pastor Lowell T. Williams and his wife, Jennifer E., will be celebrated at 3:30 p.m. March 23 with the theme “Stand and Persevere.”

Speakers will be Dr. Samuel Williams of New Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Pittsburgh and the Rev. Joseph Davis. Mimes of Zion also will perform.
