Four Ellwood City, Pa., residents are in the Mahoning County jail after they were reportedly caught with chemicals believed to be involved in methamphetamine activity.

Isiah Carr, 18, is charged with illegal possession of chemicals, a third-degree felony. April Squires, 32, is charged with illegal possession of chemicals, possessing drug-abuse instruments and drug abuse. Jordan Dimuccio, 20, is charged with possession of chemicals. Joshua Stitt, 25, is charged with possession of chemicals to manufacture drugs, permitting felony drug abuse and possession of marijuana.

Carr, Squires, Dimuccio and Stitt are expected to appear in Mahoning County Area Court in Boardman at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Boardman police were called to Walgreens on Market Street about midnight Friday on the report of a suspicious vehicle with multiple occupants driving around the parking lot. The pharmacy employees were concerned that the occupants of the vehicle would attempt to rob the pharmacy.

Police spoke with employees at the pharmacy and noticed the vehicle driving eastbound on U.S. Route 224. The driver of the vehicle failed to use a turn signal while making a lane change, so the officer initiated a traffic stop.

The officer asked the driver of the vehicle, Stitt, if there was anything illegal in the car. Stitt hesitated in answering the question, according to a police report.

Stitt admitted to police he had “some weed” under the seat, according to a police report. He gave police permission to search the vehicle. The officer said to Stitt, “I certainly hope there are no chemicals or anything that could hurt any of our officers in the vehicle,” according to a police report.

Stitt then told police, “there are chemicals in the car for making meth, and I don’t want any of you guys to get hurt or anything.”

Police found a box of Sudafed tablets in the car, a bottle of lighter fluid, a Febreze aerosol can, a bottle of Propel water, a bottle of pure lye, two side cutters, coffee filters, one hammer, three measuring cups, a small funnel, two lithium batteries, a clear plastic tube with a metal twist cap and a clear plastic vial with suspected lye on it. A small plastic cup also was found with suspected methamphetamine on the inside.

Also in the vehicle, police found two .300 Winchester magnum rifle cartridges and a single 12-gauge shell.

Inside a purse believed to belong to Squires, police found another cup with suspected methamphetamine residue in it and nine hypodermic syringes, one with liquid inside, a burnt spoon and other items consistent with drug use, according to a police report.

Stitt has a $9,250 bond, Squires has a bond of $11,500 and Dimuccio and Carr were each given a bond of $8,000.
