Warren police charge Niles man with aggravated burglary

WARREN — A 30-year-old Niles man is in Trumbull County jail without eligibility to make bond, charged with aggravated burglary after a 29-year-old Peace Avenue Northwest woman reported he broke into her house Wednesday morning and assaulted her.

The woman said Matthew S. Burroughs, of Royal Mall Drive, is the father of her child. He came into her house without permission while she was taking out the garbage, she said.

When she came back inside, he was waiting for her and struck her a couple times in the face, threw her to the floor and threatened to kill her. He then took items out of her purse, she said.

Police arrested Burroughs in Warren on a warrant about two hours after the alleged incident.
