Rust Belt Theater releases 2014 lineup

Rust Belt Theater Company has released its 2014 season. All performances are at Calvin Center, 755 Mahoning Ave., near downtown.

Tickets can be purchased in advance by calling 330-507-2358.

The company, which specializes in original works by local playwrights, began the year with “Dating Sucks: The Musical,” which is currently playing. It enters its final weekend Friday.

Up next is the third annual Repurposed Art/Fashion Show on April 27.

Here is the rest of the lineup:

May 9-10, 16-17: “Can You Hear Me?” by Brian Lee. A love story that unfolds between two people, in conjoining prison cells, who never lay eyes on each other.

June 6-7, 13-14: One-woman show featuring Marisa Zamary.

July 11-12, 18-19, 25-26: “Forbidden Youngstown.”

Aug. 22-23, 29-30: “Electra.” To celebrate its fifth anniversary, Rust Belt will stage Robert Dennick Joki’s modern adaptation of “Electra,” which was the first play the company produced at Calvin Center. Terri MacSkimming is returning in the title role, with Molly Galano as Clytemnestra.

Sept. 12-13, 19-20, 26-27: “Alice in Wonderland: A New Musical” by Robert Dennick Joki and Josh Taylor.

Oct. 17-18, 24-25 and Oct. 31-Nov. 1: “Living Dead: The Musical.”

Dec. 5, 7, 12 and 13: “How The Drag Queen Stole Christmas.”

Dec. 19-21: “Ugly Christmas Sweater Revue.”
