Register now for Skywarn training


AUSTINTOWN — The Mahoning County Emergency Management Agency will offer its annual skywarn training for tornado spotting that will begin with sign-in at 5:15 p.m. and training at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Austintown Fitch High School, 4560 Falcon Drive. The training will last about two hours, with a break included.

Participants do not have to be an amateur radio operator to attend. Training is free and open to the public.

Gary Garnett, warning coordinator for the National Weather Service, will conduct the training, and discuss severe weather, helping spotters identify potentially serious weather patterns and how to report this information to the NWS Cleveland office.
