Hit-and-run driver strikes Girard man in Liberty

LIBERTY — A Girard man was struck by a car as he was walking along Churchill Road on the state Route 11 overpass, according to a Liberty Township police report.

David Blair, 21, was struck around 4 a.m. Sunday after a car drove onto the sidewalk, said his mother, Kathy Rigsby Blair, in an email to The Vindicator. The car drove away, and Blair went to the closest house and pounded on the door, she said.

Liberty Fire Department took Blair to St. Elizabeth Health Center, the police report indicates.

Kathy Blair her son was hospitalized “until Monday evening.”

She said police found debris from the car, and she believes the car should have damage to the passenger’ side.

“Please, if anyone knows anything, call Liberty Police,” she wrote in an email to the newspaper. “We need to get this person.”

A spokesman for the police department was not immediately available for comment.
