‘America’s Music’ series topic is Latin rhythms

The next program in the “America’s Music” series will be “Latin Rhythms from Mambo to Hip Hop” at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Stambaugh Auditorium, 1000 Fifth Ave.
The six-part series is sponsored by the Dana School of Music, the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County and Stambaugh Auditorium. It focuses on uniquely American musical traditions.
Admission is free.
Youngstown is one of 50 sites nationwide to host this program series, which is a project by the Tribeca Film Institute in collaboration with the American Library Association, Tribeca Flashpoint and the Society for American Music.
Wednesday’s program will include a performance by Lee Beitzel and the Youngstown State University Dance Studio, and a lecture by Ewelina Boczkowska. Two film screenings and discussions also will take place: “Latin Music USA, Episode 1, Bridges” and “From Mambo to Hip-Hop: A South Bronx Tale.”
