Youngstown man facing drug charges

A 25-year-old Youngstown man faces drug charges after a traffic stop early Tuesday because of an obstructed rear license plate.

Jeffery Thomas Shorter, of Ohio Avenue, is charged with possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia after police found a suspected marijuana cigarette in the front passenger-seat floor of his car at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Shorter was released on a $325 bond.

Health seminar set

Bad-check charges

A Youngstown man has a preliminary hearing Tuesday in Mahoning County Area Court here on multiple passing-bad-check charges.

Township police arrested Christopher Spinelli, 38, of Selma Avenue, on Monday.

Police said Spinelli passed a $226.50 bad check to a township video store. Police said Spinelli had warrants out for his arrest on three other passing-bad-checks charges.

Workshop planned

The Wean Foundation, as part of its Capacity Building Series and in partnership with Kent State University Trumbull, is offering a workshop on fundraising from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. next Wednesday at the KSU-Trumbull Campus Technology Building, Room 117, at 4314 Mahoning Ave. NW.

The presenter is David M. Holmes, acting director of the Foundation Center-Cleveland, where he is responsible for creating, managing and delivering training programs in support of capacity building of nonprofits in Cleveland and in the midwestern United States.
