USGS says 2.8-magnitude quake shook Lowellville


LOWELLVILLE — A 2.8-magnitude earthquake shook the village of at 2:26 this morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The earthquake occurred at 41.017°N, 80.537°W at a depth of 2 kilometers, or 1.2 miles, according to the USGS wesite.

According to initial reports, no injuries or property damage were reported.

The Mahoning Valley hasn’t felt a significant earthquake since New Year’s Eve in 2011, when a 4.0- magnitude earthquake shook the area.
