MYCAP has sessions this month on job skills

The Mahoning-Youngstown Community Action Partnership is looking for people interested in learning work-related skills to obtain and maintain employment through the Workforce Development Program.

The program’s classes, set this month, will explore basic job-related skills and techniques for people to use to enhance their chances of gaining meaningful employment.

Topics covered will include adaptability, appearance, attendance, resume writing and teamwork.

To participate in the class, individuals must attend an information session to see if they qualify. These sessions are being offered from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday and also at those times March 19 at the MYCAP Youngstown office, 1325 Fifth Ave.

The sessions provide a general overview and explanation about the class, topics covered in class and expectations from each participant.

Potential candidates must be Mahoning County residents 18 or older, who graduated with a high-school diploma or General Educational Development certificate, are motivated to find employment and committed to six weeks of classroom instruction.

The Workforce Development Program is free for individuals whose income is at or below the 125 percent level of the federal poverty income guidelines.
