Fitch girls roll to third at state meet

Austintown Fitch High senior Lynnette Seebacher rolled a 604 on Saturday to finish sixth in the Division I girls bowling state tournament and help the Falcons finish third.

Senior Katie Viglio rolled a 592 to finish 11th and junior Jessica Halas scored a 580 for 16th at Wayne Webb’s Columbus Bowl.

The other Falcons bowlers were junior Cassidy Lindberg (552, 26th) and senior Laura Wilson (493, 56th).

Beavercreek defeated Akron Coventry to win the tournament. The Falcons lost to Beavercreek in the semifinals by a score of 870-836.

“It’s a little disappointing, but I really can’t complain,” Fitch coach Don Morrison said. “My girls battled well. We took Beavercreek to five games.”

Finishing behind Fitch were Mentor, Centerville, Columbus Briggs, Bowling Green and Cincinnati Mother of Mercy. Centerville sophomore Megan Cook was the top bowler, rolling a 670. Following her were Mentor’s Ashley Fortuna (657), Westerville Central’s Kelly Scarborough (615) and Masillon jackson’s Leslie Campbell (609).

Seebacher was named second-team all-Ohio and Viglio was honorable mention all-Ohio after the Falcons’ 13th state appearance under Morrison.
